Product photography in the studio
Product work is mostly a lighting problem. Reflective surfaces, glass, jewellery and anything with a metallic finish need the light shaped around them rather than pointed at them, which is what a studio with controlled light and a range of backdrops is for.
Tell us where the images are going, a web store, a print advert, a lookbook, an Amazon listing, and the shot list and the setups are built backwards from that. One production covering every destination is usually cheaper than two.
The studio
The studio is at 1502 Sawyer St #108, inside the Silos at Sawyer Yards in Houston, with controlled lighting and a range of backdrops. Having the space means a production day is not spent fighting the room, and it makes multi setup days practical: several looks, several products, or a whole team, in one booking.
Commercial work across Texas
Houston is the base and where most work happens. The studio also travels for commercial projects elsewhere in Texas, including Austin and Dallas, when the production has to happen at your site, your store or your event.
How a commercial booking works
Commercial and editorial work is quoted per project rather than sold as a fixed session, because the cost follows the shot list, the number of setups, whether models, styling, hair and makeup are needed, and how long the images will be used for and where.

Why Ashkan Image
Ashkan Roayaee is a PPA Gold Award winner and an International Photography Awards honoree, with more than a decade photographing in Houston. The studio’s dance and movement work is the reason its commercial pictures rarely look static: lighting a body in motion is harder than lighting a product, and that habit carries over.
