A family portrait is one of the few photographs a household still has on the wall twenty years later. Ashkan Image photographs families in Houston in a studio built for controlled light, so the finished set looks composed rather than caught, and everyone in it still looks like themselves.
What the session includes
The Timeless Family Portraits session is $450 and covers:
- A one hour session in the Houston studio
- Ten final digital images, selected by you
- Up to six people in the frame
- A private online proofing gallery to choose from
Groups of seven or more, and sessions somewhere that means something to your family rather than in the studio, are quoted as a custom package. Tell us who is coming and it will be priced around that.

The studio is at 1502 Sawyer St #108, inside the Silos at Sawyer Yards in Houston. Studio light is the reason a family portrait holds together: nobody is squinting into the sun, the weather stops mattering, and an hour of photographs still looks like one sitting rather than three.
It also makes a large group workable. Lighting six people evenly, so that the person at the end is not darker than the person in the middle, is a technical problem, and it is the part an outdoor family session most often gets wrong.
Who books a family session

- Couples and siblings who want one good portrait of themselves rather than another phone photograph.
What to wear
Matching outfits are not the goal and rarely photograph well. Pick two or three colours that sit together, keep any pattern to one person, and choose clothes everyone can sit down in. Bring a second option if you are unsure, because changing takes a minute and regretting it lasts longer. Direction on where to stand and what to do with your hands comes during the session, so nobody needs to arrive knowing how to pose.
